About the Artist
Michael Nez is a master Navajo silversmith from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a second-generation artist, learning from his father, Chester Nez—one of the original 29 Navajo Code Talkers.
Michael carries on a long tradition of Navajo beauty in design through his masterful work in silver, gold, turquoise, and other precious stones. His fine craftsmanship is rooted in a deep cultural legacy and is recognized for its distinctive stone setting and intricate stampwork.
Michael’s designs reflect both his heritage and personal artistic expression. His work has garnered an international following, attracting collectors around the world. Represented by The Harwood Museum in Taos, New Mexico, and The Little Bull in York Beach, Maine, Michael also participates in pow-wows, fairs, and shows, where he shares his unique creations. He is dedicated to passing down his knowledge to his children and grandchildren, ensuring the continuation of the Nez family silversmithing tradition.
